On October 8, 2024, the Adam Kurniawan Library hosted an enlightening seminar titled “Press Reader: Growth in Global Access to Information: Bridging the Digital Divide.” This hybrid event allowed participants to join either in person in Room A429 on the fourth floor or online via Google Meet.
The seminar began at 11:00 AM and was open to all academics at President University. The keynote speaker, Mr. Bayu Setyawan from PressReader, delivered an engaging presentation on how to use the platform effectively, which provides access to a variety of newspapers and magazines from around the world. Mr. Setyawan emphasized the significance of PressReader in promoting equitable access to information. He guided participants through the platform’s features, demonstrated how to navigate the interface, and showed how to personalize the reading experience. He also explained how to download content for offline reading, utilize sharing features, and engage with various publications based on individual interests.
The seminar concluded at noon, leaving participants inspired to explore PressReader further and advocate for increased access to information within their communities. This event marked a significant step in raising awareness about the importance of digital literacy and global access to information. (Windi/Librarian)
