Information Literacy Event: Financial Literacy and Economy, What College Students Need to Know

On Thursday, 14 December 2023, Adam Kurniawan Library (AKL) held a seminar with the topic “Financial Literacy and Economy, What College Students Need to Know”. The keynote speaker is Mr. Dr. Muhamad Safiq, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA. and Mr. Andrianantenaina Hajanirina, B.A., B.Sc., M.M, both of them is a Lecturer at President University and an expert in Finance, Management, and Bussiness subjects.

In this event, Mr. Haj shares about people are increasingly looking for more information before deciding whether to buy financial products, accepting responsibility for their own decisions, and realizing the consequences of acting without sufficient knowledge when handling financial matters in light of the recent shift to digital finance, the crisis of trust in financial institutions, and financial fraud practices. To date, there has been a growing diversity of research on the idea of financial literacy in explaining the multiple aspects that contribute to financial literacy.

Mr. Safiq said that along with financial education, other factors like financial awareness, financial attitude, financial skills, financial experience, financial decisions, etc. have also been covered. Additionally, we out a study assessing financial literacy and reported that looking into several aspects is a noteworthy advancement in the field of financial literacy research, aside from knowledge.
